RB Question
« on: July 30, 2010, 09:55:38 AM »
Whenever I try to change the instance of a rigidbody, after I hit ok in the properties, it brings up an error message and closes 3d rad. Can anyone help?

you are not bringin enough information to elaborate a theory about your problem.

is a custom rigidbody? if so, probably your model is the problem. but that would just bring more enigmas.

you didnt even post the error message  :D

What I think Loop means is what are you doing that makes the error occur?  Are you replacing default objects or something?
BTW, nice setup you got there; 30 gigs; wow :)

No,
say i open rigidbody in the editor, and then change it to one of the other rigidbodies, 3drad crashes.

no, I meant that a rb model could be the problem, in ex: a huge one. wasnt talking about replacing default object at all... but apparantly that isnt the problem.

No its not size, it happens with any Rigidbody.
Skinmeshes seem to work fine.

You don't give your GPU specs. but Google says it's a 32MB ATI Mobility RADEON 7500 video chipset; so you should have enough GPU (graphics) power to run Rad with ease.

Dual boot Ubuntu and XP on such a small system indicates a tendency to pack everything you can into small boxes. With 768meg, there tends to be a lot of virtual memory swapping, which is itself not conducive to 3D type work.. I just have this feeling that your system, though great for many things, may just not be on par with the minimum requirements for Rad.

I may be completely wrong.

Considering I also have a dell optiplex gx260 (i think) with almost the same specs, except the integrated gpu has 64mb, and vista. And theres no linux. You may be right.

PS- I had this problem before I started dual booting.

I think i had it working a while ago, and I've reinstalled a few times, so I'm not sure what the problem was.

Haha, I only mentioned the dual boot as a an interesting observation. (hyper developer getting the most out of available resources.. Been there.. Still am).. This obviously has nothing to do with the RB problem.
I'm one of the few that mostly ignores the physics part of Rad, and scripts everything..
I hope someone with more experience in RB's can help you resolve this.
